Grokking Bitcoin by Kalle Rosenbaum

Ministry of Nodes Review

Grokking Bitcoin is a university style textbook for learning the technical aspects of Bitcoin. The author takes you on a journey from recording transactions using a simple spreadsheet, spelling out the issues faced from doing this and suggests a series of upgrades to the spreadsheet. Through the upgrades, he arrives at his final destination – Bitcoin. The book aids your learning through extensive use of diagrams and exercises to think about (with solutions). It also contains helpful appendices for further reading. This isn’t a book you can race through in a couple of hours. It requires a slow detailed read and you may have to read it again to fully understand the concepts. This all-in-one book lays out Bitcoin from the ground up in an easy to read way. By the end of it, you will have a deep appreciation for what Bitcoin has achieved and why it is a prolific breakthrough in computer science.

The author appeared on the Stephan Livera Podcast SLP77.
